Our Nation's Veterans
Most bills take years to develop and make the way through Congress, that is why it's important for you to help support the elected officials and proposed legislation that places our nation's veterans first! With your assistance, we can identify critical races throughout the country, and support the candidates who best represent the interest of our military veterans.
Today, there are only 96 members of Congress that are veterans, and this number has steadily declined since 1970. The American Alliance for Military Veterans is working to change this by helping to elect more veterans to congress. Veterans understand at their core that American interests are above any type of partisanship. This simple, yet vitally important principle allows them to set aside their differences to negotiate for real, positive, and lasting changes for our country. Increased veteran participation in Congress for this next generation can be the ideal formula for solving the country's broken political system.

Our Priorities
Important Veteran's Issues that we support

Expanding the VA Choices Program to include more emergency and urgent care centers, and for the program to include emergency transportation. Veterans should not have to worry about coverage when seeking needed medical care.

We support legislation to remove co-payments on preventive prescriptions prescribed through the VA Healthcare System. This is required of insurance companies outside the VA, and would eventually save the VA Healthcare System funds.

With the steady increase in the cost of getting a college education, we support increased funding for the GI Bill and the VA Co-op Training Program. Veterans often have trouble transitioning from their time in the military, these programs assist in a smoother transition into society.

Congress should mandate that HUD work with all other governmental departments to increase affordable housing for our nation's Veterans. No veteran should be without a place to call home!

We are pushing congress for more earmarked funding for VHA to expand and improve its home care programs. Studies have shown that more in home care is beneficial to the Veteran and is more cost effective to the VHA as well.
